August 2026 Recap: Rachel and Alex’s Tent Wedding
Congratulations to Rachel and Alex. This was the last weekend of August and one of the liveliest crowds we had all summer. Once the dance floor opened it never really emptied.
A tent, a checkered floor and a crowd ready to go
The reception was under a big white tent with chandeliers hung down the centre and string lights around the edges. The couple went with a black and white checkered dance floor, which looks great in photos and gives everyone an obvious place to gather.
Tents are one of our favourite setups. They hold the sound in better than people expect, and with the sides lit softly you can still see faces in photos late into the night. The one thing we always plan for at a tent is power, since a lot of tented sites run off a single circuit or a generator. Our ceremony and cocktail speakers run on batteries, so a tent wedding usually only needs one outlet at the main DJ position.

What kept the floor full
This group did a lot of the work for us. The wedding party was out there with the bride, and when the people closest to the couple are dancing, everyone else follows. That’s the pattern we see at almost every wedding, and it’s why we tell couples to get their wedding party on the floor early.
If you’re planning a tent wedding of your own, our wedding DJ page covers how we set up, and the wedding planning form is where we collect your must plays and do not plays.
Thanks again Rachel and Alex, and all the best. If you have a date coming up and want a team that has done a lot of these, send us your details.
