Terms and Conditions

The terms that govern every booking with Presto Entertainment across British Columbia.

These terms and conditions govern bookings for entertainment services with Presto Entertainment, including DJ and MC services, photo booths, karaoke, games, lighting, and special effects across Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, and the rest of British Columbia. They cover deposits, payment schedules, cancellation and rescheduling, client responsibilities, and liability.

Presto Entertainment (“Presto,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) has provided event entertainment across British Columbia since 2005. These terms apply to all bookings made with us. By submitting a booking deposit, signing a booking contract, or otherwise confirming a booking, you (“the client”) agree to these terms. If you have questions about anything below, please contact us before you book.

These terms work alongside the written booking contract we provide for your specific event. Where a signed booking contract and these general terms differ, the signed booking contract prevails for that booking.

1. Booking and Deposits

A booking is confirmed only once we have received your signed booking contract and the required deposit. Until both are received, your date and the requested services remain available to other clients and are not held for you. We do not place date holds before a deposit and contract are in place.

The deposit amount is stated in your quote and contract. The deposit reserves your date and the agreed services, and it is applied toward your total balance. Deposits are non-refundable except as described in the Cancellations and Refunds section below.

2. Pricing, Payment, and Taxes

Prices are quoted in Canadian dollars and are subject to applicable taxes (GST, and any other taxes required by law). Travel for staff outside our standard service areas is itemized in your quote and charged per staff member.

Unless your contract states otherwise, the remaining balance is due before or on the event date as set out in your contract. We accept the payment methods listed on your invoice. We do not add surcharges or offer discounts based on the payment method you choose. Quotes are valid for the period stated on the quote; after that period, pricing and availability may change.

3. Cancellations and Refunds

If you need to cancel, please tell us in writing as early as possible. Deposits are non-refundable because your date and staff are reserved for you and turned away from other clients once you book. Amounts paid above the deposit may be refundable depending on how close the cancellation is to the event date and the costs we have already committed (staff, rentals, third-party vendors). The specific cancellation terms for your booking are set out in your contract.

If Presto must cancel for a reason within our control and we cannot provide a suitable replacement, your payments for the cancelled services will be refunded. This is the limit of our responsibility for a cancellation by us.

4. Rescheduling and Changes

We understand that plans change. Requests to move your event to a new date are accommodated when our staff and equipment are available for the new date. Your deposit can usually be transferred to a rescheduled date, subject to availability and any difference in seasonal pricing. We cannot guarantee the same team members or the same pricing for a new date.

Changes to your package (adding hours, adding services, changing the venue or guest count) are welcome and are confirmed in writing. Added services are quoted at our current rates, and additional DJ hours and travel are charged as itemized in your updated quote.

5. Client Responsibilities

To deliver the service you booked, we rely on you to arrange the following with your venue:

  • Safe, reasonable access to the venue for load in and load out, including any required parking, elevators, or loading areas.
  • Adequate, dedicated, and grounded power within reasonable distance of our setup location.
  • A suitable, level, and weather-protected setup area sized for the services you booked. Outdoor setups require shelter from sun, rain, and wind.
  • Confirmation of any venue rules, noise limits, curfews, or insurance requirements that affect our services.

If the venue cannot provide these and our team cannot set up or perform safely, we may be unable to deliver part or all of the service, and fees already paid for that service may not be refundable. Delays caused by venue access, power problems, or timeline changes on the day are outside our control and may shorten performance time.

6. Equipment, Setup, and Safety

All equipment we bring to your event remains the property of Presto Entertainment. Only our team operates our equipment. You agree to take reasonable care to prevent damage to, or theft of, our equipment while it is at your venue, and you are responsible for loss or damage caused by you or your guests beyond normal use.

Our team has the final say on the safe placement and operation of equipment, lighting, and special effects. If conditions become unsafe (for example, severe weather, overcrowding, unsafe power, or interference with the equipment), we may pause or stop a service to protect people and equipment.

7. Photo Booth and Game Rentals

Photo booth, karaoke, music bingo, music trivia, arcade, claw machine, and similar rentals are delivered with the staffing described in your quote. Our karaoke service is always hosted by a KJ; we do not offer unhosted or drop-off karaoke. Where a service is offered as self-serve, the terms for that service are set out in your contract. Guests use these services at their own risk and are expected to follow reasonable directions from our staff.

8. Music and Requests

We work with you in advance on your music preferences, must-play songs, and any do-not-play list. On the day, our DJs read the room and use professional judgment to keep your event running well. We will do our best to accommodate guest requests that fit your event and your stated preferences, but we cannot guarantee that every request will be played.

9. Conduct and Right to Refuse Service

The safety and respect of our team is important to us. We may pause or end a service, without refund, if our staff are subjected to harassment, threats, violence, or unsafe conditions, or if guests interfere with our equipment or refuse reasonable safety directions. We will always try to resolve issues calmly with you first.

10. Liability and Insurance

Presto Entertainment carries liability insurance and can provide a certificate of insurance to your venue on request. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of any booking is limited to the amount you paid us for the affected service. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.

You agree to be responsible for the conduct of your guests and for any damage they cause to our equipment or staff. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under British Columbia law.

11. Photos and Media

From time to time we may take photos or video of our setup and the event atmosphere for our portfolio and marketing. If you prefer that we do not use images from your event, simply let us know in writing before the event and we will respect that request. 12. Events Outside Our Control (Force Majeure)

Neither party is responsible for failing to meet its obligations because of events beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, fire, power failures, illness, government orders, road closures, or other emergencies. If such an event prevents us from performing, we will work with you in good faith to reschedule or to provide a fair resolution based on the costs already committed.

13. Governing Law

These terms and any booking with Presto Entertainment are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada. Any dispute will be dealt with in the courts of British Columbia.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect for your event is the version published on this page on the date your booking is confirmed. Material changes do not affect a booking that is already confirmed under an earlier version, unless you agree otherwise in writing.
