Wedding DJ
The DJ Who Makes Your Wedding Reception Unforgettable.
Wedding DJ Services in Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo
Presto Entertainment has been the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island’s go-to wedding DJ and MC since 2005. We have played over 2,000 events and hold a 4.9-star rating across more than 100 Google reviews. Whether your wedding is a 40-guest elopement on the Sunshine Coast or a 350-guest reception at a downtown Vancouver hotel, you get the same standard: a working professional who has spent years reading dance floors, pacing sets, and picking the track that turns a slow room into a packed one. That experience is what you are hiring, and it shows up the moment the music starts.
What a Presto Wedding DJ Does on the Day
A wedding is not one event. It is four or five stitched together, and every one needs different music. Your DJ handles all of it as a single, continuous soundtrack.
The ceremony comes first, with processional, signing, and recessional cues coordinated with your officiant or planner. Cocktail hour follows, with curated sets that set the tone while guests mingle and photos wrap. Dinner needs its own treatment, conversational and warm rather than intrusive, with the volume tuned to the room so speeches land cleanly. Then the reception kicks in: grand entrance, first dance, parent dances, cake cut, bouquet toss, and a dance set paced for a full night of energy.
One DJ, one sound system, one point of contact from setup to send-off. No handoffs, no awkward switches between a ceremony vendor and a reception vendor, no missing audio cues.
The Hot List, Not List, and Sought List
Every couple we book gets access to our three-list music planning system. The Hot List is the songs you absolutely want played. The Not List is the songs that never, ever hit your dance floor. The Sought List is the songs you love but are not sure will work with your crowd, which we treat as options to drop in when the room is ready for them.
The combination gives you real control over your music without turning the DJ into a jukebox. Your DJ still reads the room, still builds sets, and still knows when to pivot, but every decision stays inside the frame you set. It is the difference between handing over a playlist and handing over your wedding night.
Every Presto DJ Is Also Your MC
MC duties are not a separate line item. Every DJ on our roster is a trained MC, which means the same person running the music is also handling the microphone: grand entrance announcements, speech introductions, transitions between dinner and dancing, bouquet toss callouts, and timeline coordination with your photographer and planner.
That single-point-of-contact setup matters more than couples usually expect. When the speeches run long and dinner needs to compress, your DJ adjusts on the fly. When the photographer needs five more minutes outside, your DJ stretches the cocktail set. The whole reception flows because one person is watching all of it.
Serving Weddings Across British Columbia
Our three home bases are Vancouver, Victoria, and Nanaimo, with coverage extending across the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, and beyond. Popular wedding destinations we book regularly include Whistler, Parksville, Harrison Hot Springs, Squamish, and Sooke. For venues further afield, travel is quoted based on distance and logistics.
Complete Your Wedding Entertainment
Most couples pair the DJ with one or more add-ons. The most common are a wedding photo booth during cocktail hour and reception, uplighting to transform a plain venue into something cinematic, and first-dance effects like cold sparks or dancing on a cloud. Bundling saves on setup coordination and usually saves on price. See our wedding packages for the common combinations, or request a custom quote with your date and venue.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in a wedding DJ package?
Our wedding DJ packages include ceremony music, cocktail hour, dinner music, and full reception DJ and MC services with professional sound equipment and wireless microphones.
Can you provide entertainment for the whole wedding day?
Absolutely. Many couples book a complete package with DJ services for ceremony through reception, a photo booth during cocktail hour, uplighting, and special effects for the first dance.
How much does a wedding DJ cost with Presto Entertainment?
Wedding DJ packages typically range from $1,800 to $3,000, depending on total hours, whether you include ceremony coverage, and any add-ons like photo booth, uplighting, or special effects. Most Vancouver and Victoria weddings land in the $2,200 to $2,800 range. We send a full quote once we know your date, venue, and guest count.
How far in advance should we book our wedding DJ?
Six to twelve months is ideal, especially for summer Saturdays from May through September, which book up first. Dates inside three months are often still possible, but the roster of available DJs narrows. The sooner we know your date, the more likely you are to get your first-choice DJ.
Can you play Bollywood, Latin, Bhangra, K-pop, or other cultural music?
Yes. Our roster includes DJs who specialize in South Asian, Latin, Persian, Filipino, and multi-genre weddings, and we will match you with the right DJ for your crowd. Share your must-play and not-play songs through our three-list planning system and your DJ will build the night around them.
What happens if our DJ gets sick or cannot make our wedding?
Because Presto Entertainment has a full roster of eight DJs across BC, we always have backup coverage. If your assigned DJ has an emergency, we pull from the roster and brief your replacement fully on your Hot List, Not List, and timeline. In 20 years of events, no Presto client has ever been left without a DJ on their wedding day.
